Are you looking for quality clothes with creative designs that actually mean something and aren’t simply random abstract artworks? That’s what we were looking for; and after searching for long time and finding… well, not much, we decided, hey! Let’s design our own clothing line! ...And that’s how Samurai Apparel came to be.

Samurai Apparel begins with three individuals of different backgrounds and expertise (design, sales, marketing, etc...) but one thing in common:  a passion for martial arts and other sports… and quality clothes of course. We noticed that somewhere amidst all the skulls and crossbones of popular fashion, the true heart of martial arts had yet to be captured.

Martial arts is not just fighting, nor is not merely self-defense. It is a way of life; it is the pursuit of bettering oneself physically, mentally and spiritually. That is what we intend to capture in our designs and in our clothing… but how? Well after a few lengthily brainstorming sessions, we all agreed that the most powerful symbol of martial arts is the Samurai; the warriors who lived by a strict code of ethics.

Training in jiu-jitsu and kickboxing out of Ottawa, Canada, we the members of Samurai Apparel will continue our own journey to better ourselves; while also dedicating ourselves to providing you with quality clothes inspired by the Samurai warriors.

Not only for Martial Arts!! Living life to the fullest and dedicating yourself to whatever you pursue, whether it be martial arts, hockey, skateboarding, snowboarding, etc... whatever your passion is. That passion is the essence of what we intend to capture in our clothes. If you are dedicated and passionate about what you do and live with courage and respect, then Samurai Apparel is for you.

For over 1000 years, the Samurai were members of the military class of pre-industrial Japan. These warriors lived their lives by a code of ethics known as Bushido (the way of the warrior). Bushido stressed certain virtues such as loyalty, honesty, self discipline, respect, courage and many more.

The Samurai were trained in many forms of martial arts and utilized many weapons such as bows and arrows, spears, etc… but the Samurai’s most synonymous weapon is the sword. They always carried with them two swords. The long sword, their primary weapon is known as the katana. The shorter sword, which never left their side, is called the Wakizashi. Together, these two swords formed the Daisho.
